• Vitamins: Liquid or Pills

The debate continues: Which is better, vitamins in liquid or pill form?

The problem that most consumers encounter when taking the pill supplements is that it is harder to swallow, especially those that come in large, textured capsule formats. On the other hand, a liquid vitamin mineral supplement goes down in one quick gulp, its taste easily washed away by an optional drink of water.

Another issue is efficacy. Pill vitamins contain binders and other additives tightly-packed to keep the vitamins in a solid, hard, stable form. Consequently, the digestive track must work hard at breaking down these elements before the body could absorb the therapeutic benefits of the vitamins. Unlike pills, however, liquid supplements are readily absorbed and quickly dispersed in the blood stream to nourish the different organs of the body.

Finally, thereâ??s the stability factor. Since the stability of some vitamins are affected when dissolved in water or other fluids, reliability of liquid supplements are often questioned by manufacturers of pill supplements which are considered more stable because of their solid, dry, and hard form.

The pros and cons balance each other out. In the end, the choice is up to the consumer on how he wants to provide supplementary nourishment to his body.
